Is there anything I can do to the mid pipe section of the exhaust while keeping the stock muffler so it makes a little sound? Like an Xpipe or something.Ĭlick to expand.I thought the Infiniti Sport exhaust came in 3 variants but trying to find specifics has proved to be a rabbit hole.

Not sure what to do just to get a little bit of sound and not break the bank.

Also I don't think I'd enjoy sound coming from the underbody of the car. Also, I've read they just stop working or they leak sound in the closed position. Now there's the on-demand eBay exhaust cutouts that go in the middle of the exhaust piping and then you can switch them on and off as you like, but I don't like the idea of drilling the middle of the car to run a wire to the 12v. But I've been told that if you go cheap like with a Magnaflow axleback those burn out after a while and start sounding raspy or really just sound like a muffler delete after a while.

SUPER QUIET 3 INCH MUFFLER INSTALL

The next logical step would be to install an axleback sport muffler like a Magnaflow or something like that. I already did a muffler delete but went back to stock cause it was too loud. I know I can get a Stainless "stock type" system as well for a several hundred dollars more than stock aluminum.I'm looking to get some exhaust noise in my 3.7 and not break the bank. I would replace the whole system but this one is almost new and is all stainless, which helps in New England winters, also if I removed this exhaust system I'd probably just go back to a stock system that isn't stainless and have to replace it every 2 or 3 years due to corrosion. So I need to have someone cut the pipe coming out of the existing stainless muffler and make a pipe to fit between the existing muffler and the "new resonator" and make a tailpipe to exit out the rear. That proposes a larger problem for me as there is no room to install a "resonator" in front of this muffler. This exhaust is too loud, annoying, with a drone that is hard to take in the cabin even with a properly amplified sound system. When I bought it, it already had an aftermarket Flow Master exhaust that is cat back and dumps out in front of the passenger side wheel with dual tips. Also, I am toying around with removing the tail pipes and tips and dumping it.however i don't want to make it louder in the cab.Īny thoughts on installing a resonator before the muffler on the setup i currently have? OR a quiet single in dual out muffler that can be dumped that sounds refined and not so quiet it sounds stock and NO drone (I know i'm asking for a lot) before or after the axle? When i had my F150 5.0L V8, i removed the front resonator before the stock muffler and it sounded great, just the right amount of sound with no drone.this is what I'm looking for in my Silverado.ĭon't mean to Hi-jack your post but I'm wanting to do the same thing with my truck. My thought was is to maybe install something like a vibrant resonator in front of the muffler to try to take the edge off it a little. In the cab it is fairly noticeable during street driving, there is a small amount of drone in the cab due to the 4.10 gears at 2000-2100 RPM at 65-70 MPH, this is where i want to take the edge off at. The tips run out to the passenger side where the stock tailpipe would normally be. It is a single 3 inch in and dual 2.5 inch out. According to the specs on the muffler, it is around 24 inches long and 8 inches wide. My truck is an 05 Silverado Crew Cab with 5.3L, 4.10 rear end gears and a Gibson dual sport exhaust system. My goal is to add something like a resonator to my current system to quiet it down.not to the point where it sounds stock, but more of a refined when you get on the gas you know its there but just cruising or idling, a little quieter. I don't want to spend a boat load of money on a new system. I have 2 kids now that are young and yes.I am getting older and don't want something as loud. I know this is a strange topic but i am looking for something to quiet down my exhaust.
